When the Queen dies, will we have a day off? A holiday?

Britain is in mourning for its longest-reigning monarch, QUEEN ELIZABETH II. Will Britons get a day off to mourn the monarch's death?

Her Majesty died on September 8 in Balmoral Castle, Scotland. The Royal Family confirmed at 6.30pm that the Queen died at Balmoral. The King and Queen Consort will return to London tomorrow.

A Buckingham Palace spokeswoman said Thursday morning that the Queen's doctors were concerned about her health and urged she remain under medical observation. The Queen remains at Balmoral."

Anne, Charles (now King Charles III), Prince Edward, and Prince Andrew were with the Queen at Balmoral Castle.

Will we receive a royal mourning day off?

There's no official day off or bank holiday for a monarch's death.

Britain will grieve for 10 days, with the Queen's funeral on the 10th.

Employers aren't required to give employees the day off for the funeral, but there will be a two-minute nationwide quiet.

Tributes flooding in for the Queen's 70-year reign have shocked the UK.

Many want a bank holiday on the day of or after the burial.

Cabinet ministers will be told of the Queen's death and advised to display "discretion" within 10 minutes of the announcement.

A two-minute silence will be held at noon across the UK for the burial service at Westminster Abbey.

The Queen will be interred at King George VI Memorial Chapel in St George's Chapel, Windsor Castle.

Before Her Majesty's burial, King Charles will travel the UK.

Charles released a poignant message 40 minutes after her death.

"The demise of my dear Mother, Her Majesty The Queen, is a period of deep sadness," he remarked.

"We mourn a beloved Sovereign and Mother." I know her death will be felt across the country, Realms, Commonwealth, and the world.
