Prince Harry leaves Balmoral alone to see Meghan.

Prince Harry left Balmoral yesterday after learning the Queen was gravely ill.

The Duke of Sussex, who was already in the UK with Meghan Markle this week, was driven out of the Scottish Highlands residence at 8.15am. His convoy passed floral tributes outside Balmoral for the nation's longest-reigning monarch, who died peacefully yesterday.

The Duke arrived at Aberdeen International Airport at 9:20am in two Range Rovers and five police motorcycles.

He boarded a 10.20am British Airways flight.

Harry was accompanied at the airport by a woman in a high-visibility vest. He was seen comforting her at one point.

Omid Scobie tweeted this morning that Harry will "remain in the UK during this time."

Charles and Camilla left Balmoral for London at 11.30 a.m.

The Duke of Sussex visited the 96-year-old monarch at Balmoral yesterday.

He flew to Scotland and arrived at Balmoral at 8pm, 1.5 hours after the Queen's death was announced.

A Sussexes spokesperson initially said Meghan would join Harry, but it turned out he was traveling alone.

BBC royal correspondent Nicholas Witchell speculated about the Duchess's absence: "She might not be terribly warmly welcomed."

The Duke was scheduled to speak at the WellChild Awards in London. Harry is patron of a children's charity.

The Sussexes, who live in California after quitting royal duties in 2020, visited Britain as part of a mini European tour.

They were reportedly staying at Frogmore Cottage, a short walk from Adelaide Cottage.

They landed in Britain last weekend and stopped in Germany before returning.

Meghan gave the keynote address at Manchester's One Young World summit on Monday.

It was their first UK appearance since June's Jubilee.

They also visited Dusseldorf to mark the one-year countdown to the Invictus Games.

When they return to Montecito is unknown.

Meghan said in a recent interview that she and Harry "upset the hierarchy just by existing" before stepping down.

In a 2013 interview with Oprah Winfrey, they made explosive claims about the monarchy, and the Duke's tell-all memoir has been delayed.

William, Andrew, and the Wessexes also visited the Queen yesterday.

Buckingham Palace said doctors were concerned about the queen's health and recommended she remain under medical supervision.

The Duke of Cambridge, Duke of York, Earl and Countess of Wessex flew to Scotland, landing in Aberdeenshire at 4pm. William drove them to Balmoral an hour later.

Charles, Camilla, and Princess Anne were already in Scotland when they arrived at Balmoral.

The Palace announced at 6.30pm that the Queen died Thursday afternoon at her Scottish sanctuary.

Statement: "Today, the Queen died at Balmoral.

"The King and Queen Consort will return to London tomorrow."

Thousands of people have visited Buckingham Palace to pay tribute to the Queen, who celebrated her Platinum Jubilee this year.

Behind the scenes, the long-held London Bridge plans for the Queen's death are being quickly put into action. The next 11 days will include a lying in state and a state funeral.

Royal mourning will last seven days after the Queen's funeral, on September 19.
Friday night, King Charles III will address the nation via television.

The new King said yesterday: "Her Majesty The Queen's death saddens me and my family deeply.

"We mourn a beloved monarch and mother.

"I know her loss will be felt throughout the country, realms, Commonwealth, and world.

My family and I will be comforted by the respect and deep affection for the Queen during this time of mourning and change.
