Top Gun: Maverick will outperform Avengers: Infinity War..

Although it was released back in May, Top Gun: Maverick is still doing quite well at the box office. The film became Paramount's highest-grossing release of all time as it grossed over $1 billion globally in June. A recent increase in ticket sales put it ahead of The Avengers and Titanic for the first time in the film's history. The film's 12th weekend in theaters saw an increase in screenings from 2,760 to 3,181. With an estimated $7.2 million in earnings this weekend, the film is on track to break the $700 million domestic record, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter. The film has earned $1.35 billion worldwide. With continued success, the movie will earn more money than the previous box office record holder, Avengers: Infinity War.

The Top Gun sequel will have a long way to go before it surpasses Infinity War's $2,048,359,754 total box office haul, but with $700,000,000 in domestic sales, it will surpass Infinity War's $678,815,482 to become the sixth-highest grossing domestic film of all time. Star Wars: The Force Awakens ($936 million), Avengers: Endgame ($858.3 million), Spider-Man: No Way Home ($804.7 million), Avatar ($760 million), and Black Panther ($700 million) are now the most grossing films in the United States. There is a chance that Top Gun: Maverick will go after Black Panther, which has an official domestic total of $700,059,566.

Top Gun: Maverick has been a huge financial success, and it has also been universally praised by critics. The film presently has a 96% critical grade and a 99% audience score on review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes. Spencer Perry of ComicBook.com rated the film 4.5/5 and said it was a "rare sequel that outdoes the original in every aspect." For more information on Top Gun: Maverick, see the synopsis below.

"Pete 'Maverick' Mitchell (Tom Cruise), a veteran of more than thirty years as one of the Navy's greatest aviators, is finally where he belongs: breaking new ground as a brave test pilot and avoiding the promotion that would put him on the ground. Lt. Bradley Bradshaw (Miles Teller), call sign: 'Rooster,' is the son of Maverick's late friend and Radar Intercept Officer Lt. Nick Bradshaw, aka 'Goose.' They meet when Maverick is training a detachment of Top Gun graduates for a specialized mission the likes of which no living pilot has ever seen. Maverick is driven into a battle with his innermost fears as he faces an uncertain future and the demons of his past, leading up to a mission that requires the ultimate sacrifice from those who will be chosen to fly it."
