The Queen has had a jam sandwich every day since she was 5 years old, her former chef says.

According to the former private chef, the Queen has been eating a jam sandwich every day since she was five years old.

For 15 years, Darren McGrady served as Queen Elizabeth's private chef. He also cooked for Princess Diana and Princes William and Harry.

Mr. McGrady, whose YouTube channel has 226,000 subscribers, uploaded a video explaining how to make your own version of the royal afternoon tea and what kinds of sandwiches would be available at Buckingham Palace.

The palace's chef, who has been there since he was a youngster, recalled the 6,000 guests who would attend garden parties.

But the royal chefs only had to prepare food for the royal tea tent, and there was always one type of sandwich that was mandatory.

Mr. McGrady informed us that the Queen has been enjoying "jam pennies" for Afternoon Tea ever since she was a young girl.

'Just bread and jam with a little butter, usually strawberry jam,' he remarked, describing the ageless dish.

"At Balmoral Castle, we used to make jam from the grounds' exquisite Scottish strawberries."

He then placed a jam and butter slice on top of each other, sandwich style, and cut out circles, explaining, "They were nicknamed pennies, after the size of the old English penny."

Tomato and cheese, as well as cucumber and mint cream cheese, were also common fillings for afternoon tea sandwiches.

Someone commented, "The odd thing is, to school in England everyone who had jam sandwiches was deemed poor!

I wish I could show this to my bullies since I just found out that the Queen eats them.
