New 'Mad Max' casts bullied teen with dwarfism in a starring role.
A young indigenous Australian named Quaden Bayles, who was ridiculed because of his disability but eventually garnered the support of celebrities and well-wishers throughout the world, has landed a role in the upcoming "Mad Max: Fury Road" film.
In "Furiosa," the Oscar-winning director George Miller gives the now-11-year-old a modest cameo as a flashback character to his post-apocalyptic blockbuster "Mad Max: Fury Road," released in 2015.
Miller told the Sydney Morning Herald's Good Weekend magazine on Saturday that after seeing the upsetting video of Bayles that his mother posted in February 2020, he was inspired to bring his story to the big screen.
Despite being born with achondroplasia, a form of dwarfism, the Queensland kid will star in Miller's upcoming film "Three Thousand Years of Longing" opposite Idris Elba and Tilda Swinton.
Miller told the Sydney Morning Herald, "It was good for us and it was good for him." Also, thanks to his great performance, he'll be featured in a minor capacity in Furiosa.
to elaborate, more comment.
In the viral video from 2020, Bayles can be seen sobbing excessively in the backseat of his mother's car as he begs for a knife to end his life.
His mother, Yarraka Bayles, stated in the video that she was livestreaming on Facebook to bring attention to the effects of bullying. If you could teach your loved ones and acquaintances, I'd greatly appreciate it.
Hugh Jackman, an Australian actor, was among many who saw the video and responded with a video message on Twitter, assuring Bayles, "No matter what, you've got a buddy in me."
Jackman told Quaden, "Mate, you are stronger than you know. "Let's all simply try to treat one other nicely. Bullying is never acceptable."
