Johnny Depp's lawyer talks about, the trial's social media impact and, how she knew she was famous.

An occasional high-profile trial can, capture the public's attention in ways that, are out of the ordinary. In the 1980s, a generation was, shaped by the broadcast trial of O.J. Simpson; in the 2010s, it was transformed into a, highly successful FX series. In addition, the recent court dispute between Aquaman's Amber Heard, and Pirates of the Caribbean's Johnny Depp has been, the subject of interminable discussion, news coverage, and social media chatter. At one point, it seemed like you couldn't, move for actual or parody reports, on the Depp-Heard trial, but the attention never made, its way to the people directly involved.

 

Benjamin Chew and Camille Vasquez, attorneys for Johnny Depp, spoke with the Beverly Hills Bar Association, about the trial's media attention and, whether or not it affected the outcome. According to Vasquez, the media attention surrounding, the trial had little to no effect on them.

 

During the experiment, it felt like we were enclosed in a cocoon. We were confident the, jury would rule in the same way. We needed to get it done. We were too busy working to do anything else. Time was used well during the few hours, we had it to get some shut-eye. Somewhere about the middle of the trial, we began to realize this was developing its own momentum.

 

Whether it was Johnny Depp's reaction, to seemingly ludicrous questions or Amber Heard's, evidence about Depp having to sell his yacht, almost every facet of the trial was examined closely. Legal experts questioned whether, Heard's team made the proper call by, appealing so soon after the decision was revealed.

 

But there was a point, as Camille Vasquez confesses, when public interest in their continuing trial, began to breach the bubble she spoke of, and it happened over the most routine tasks. According to Vasquez,

 

On the weekend, I stopped for coffee in the morning, and a cute young lady wearing, braces greeted me by name, offered me my beverage, and then gaped at me in the nicest, possible way as she admired my beverage. And I wondered, "Oh my God, am I wearing makeup?" Then she revealed that she was Johnny Depp's attorney, and introduced herself. The question on my mind was, "How do you know that?" However, we didn't incorporate that into our plans.

 

That's one of the side effects of, a high-profile case like the Depp-Heard trial. This matter has been thrust into the center, of intense public attention. You must just presume that the jurors making, the decision are immune to the information, they are being presented with. Especially considering how many of, them concerned the romantic status of, Johnny Depp and Camille Vasquez, Even when they saw each, other again at a rock event, the news spread like wildfire.
