Johnny Depp writes foreword for Berlin, woman's children's book. Make-A-Wish.
Actor Johnny Depp's philanthropic work, has touched a Berlin woman.


The actor wrote the book's foreword to, support Make-A-Wish America and International.

Vandrilla, 31, a Middletown High School chemistry teacher, met Depp in 2011 on the set of, "Dark Shadows" The charities grant sick children's wishes.

Vandrilla added, "He's the loveliest person imaginable." "He gives undivided attention and, makes you feel special"

Vandrilla's leukemia gave her hope and, inspiration when she met Depp, she claimed.

Vandrilla added, "His movies benefited me."

His movies "Dark Shadows," "Sweeney Todd," and "Benny & Joon" are her favorites.

When they met on set in 2011, there were 12 other young people because, meeting him is a popular wish, she said. He spent 45 minutes, with them before returning to filming.

She stated she didn't stand out, and she doesn't think he remembers meeting her.

In 2018, she encountered him again during, a "Hollywood Vampires" meet-and-greet. She told him she'd wished to meet him in London.

She self-published "Thumper's Hospital Adventure", to help Make-A-Wish and dedicated it to Depp

Depp "has inspired me more than he can ever know," she writes in the dedication.

Depp discovered through the grapevine that, he was mentioned in the dedication — not Vandrilla — and he sent her a note stating he was "moved and honored."

"It was hard to believe," she remarked. "I'm humbled."

Her second book, "Thumper's London Adventure," was released a month ago due to, COVID-19 and other delays.

She asked Depp's publicists, to write the book's foreword. She said she wanted to help, Make-A-Wish because he motivated her.

"I expected a polite "I'm busy. She thanked him.

Depp surprised Vandrilla by writing a foreword for her book.

"For my darling Katie, her family and friends, and all the dear children out there." You are loved and in our thoughts. With love, respect, and best wishes always..." He signed it.

She said, "You don't see this in the press, because he doesn't make it about him."

The first book, dedicated to Depp, is about a lost stuffed rabbit at a hospital. The second book, for which Depp contributed the foreword, is about a rabbit lost in London.

This cover boasts, "Foreword by Johnny Depp."

Vandrilla, in remission, grants over 30 wishes for Make-A-Wish Connecticut. The granter interviews ailing children, and their families about their desire, then returns to rejoice and convey the good news.

"Wish kids" are always part of Make-A-Wish Connecticut's family, said Kris Moran.

“We're grateful to Katie for her work, as a wish granter and her help at events, as well as her books that benefit Make-A-Wish,” she said.

Hiltzik Strategies client Carolina Hurley stated Depp's, charity passions include Make-A-Wish and, hospitalized youngsters.

Vandrilla hopes to write further books, for the charity showcasing Thumper's experiences. Depp isn't involved, she added.

Vandrilla said she experienced "survivor's guilt", when she met Depp in 2011 since so many young people, she knew "died."

Meeting Depp in 2011 "rocketed everything," she remarked. "I saw what my wish achieved for me, therefore I want to spread optimism."
