'Jane Doe' sued the FBI to learn why they didn't arrest Brad Pitt | CTB News

'Jane Doe' sued the FBI to learn why they didn't arrest Brad Pitt.

According to a recent allegation, Angelina Jolie may be behind a lawsuit against the FBI requesting the reasons why agents almost arrested actor Brad Pitt after the argument that purportedly led to his split from ex-wife actress Angelina Jolie.

According to reports, Pitt was drinking and became "verbally abusive" against Jolie during a fight on the couple's private plane, prompting Maddox, the couple's eldest child, to intervene on her behalf. This incident led Jolie to file for divorce.

Since the jet was in the air at the time, and the sky falls within federal jurisdiction, the FBI was given the task of looking into the allegations. The Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) also conducted an investigation and reached the same conclusion as the FBI: Pitt would not be charged in connection with the event.

As Laura Eimiller, a spokeswoman for the FBI's Los Angeles field office, explained at the time, "the FBI has conducted a review of the circumstances and will not pursue further investigation" in response to allegations made following a flight within the special aircraft jurisdiction of the United States that landed in Los Angeles carrying Mr. Brad Pitt and his children. The appropriate legal authorities have decided not to press charges.

But in April of 2022, a woman named "Jane Doe" sued the FBI under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), asking details about what was discovered during the probe into the plane incident in 2016; speculation quickly mounted that "Doe" was indeed Jolie.

Documents filed in court identified "Doe" as a well-known public figure who sought details "regarding the agency's investigation of a domestic violence event that occurred several years ago involving plaintiff and her minor children as victims and witnesses..." Defendant is accused of assaulting the plaintiff and their minor children on board a private plane several years ago.

Doe claims in her lawsuit that the FBI dropped their probe into her disappearance without alerting her, opting instead to release a statement.

On Monday, Eriq Gardner of Puck News said that he had confirmed Jolie as the plaintiff in that suit and that new court documents indicated how close the FBI had come to arresting Pitt.

After keeping up with their weird legal battle following their divorce for some years, I can officially say that Jolie is the plaintiff in the F.B.I. action. It's also the first time the pseudonymous case has been made public, as I've learned through Gardner. Jolie added a new and intriguing aspect to her complaint on August 9. The agent who investigated the September 2016 incident had written a statement of probable cause and handed it to the chief of the Criminal Division at the U.S. Attorney's Office in Los Angeles before the F.B.I. declared that Pitt would not be prosecuted with assault on an airplane. (Jolie claims in her new complaint that she got this information from a Freedom of Information Act answer from the FBI last year.)
