Depp was well-compensated.

The Management Group says Depp made nearly $650 million from 1999 to 2016.

Huge paychecks from "Pirates of the Caribbean" helped him become wealthy.

After "The Curse of the Black Pearl," Depp made $20 million each film.
"Curse of the Black Pearl," a 2003 rendition of the Pirates of the Caribbean Disney parks attraction, grossed over $650 million worldwide.

Depp's price rose. The Hollywood Reporter says he received $20 million pre-picture and 20% of the backend per film.

Depp was paid ahead and after the film broke even.

Depp's backend arrangement earned him $40 million every "Pirates" film.
Depp's revenues from "Pirates" sequels, notably 2006's "Dead Man's Chest," were enormous.

The actor made almost $40 million per sequel, citing THR. Again, that doesn't include base pay.

The money didn't all go to Depp. His agents received 10%, managers 5%, and taxes and expenditures were deducted.

From there, the payoffs grew.

The film's backend contract was $55 million.
In 2010, Depp paired together with Tim Burton for "Alice in Wonderland."

THR stated that he earned $55 million in backend thanks to the movie's $1 billion box office haul.

In 2016 and 2017, Depp earned $25.7 million in residuals from "Pirates," "Alice," and "Into the Woods" (he played the Big Bad Wolf).

In 2016, he was Forbes' highest-paid celebrity. He supposedly made $48 million.

One scene as Grindelwald. In 2022's "Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore," Mads Mikkelsen took control.

Depp purchased a $3.6 million Bahamas island.
The actor bought the 45-acre island 60 miles from Nassau in 2003 while filming "Curse of the Black Pearl."

When he bought it, it had no houses, but he's since added solar-powered buildings, including a residence with 360-degree views.

He spent $5 million to cannon Hunter S. Thompson's ashes.
Depp befriended Thompson after portraying him in "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas"

Thompson died in 2005. Thompson wanted a grandiose funeral with his ashes launched from a cannon in the shape of a double-fist and a red, white, and blue fireworks spectacular.

Depp spent $5 million on his friend's wish.

Depp's monthly bills were $2 million, including $100,000 for addiction.
According to his former management firm, Depp's extravagant lifestyle cost him $2 million a month in bills.

Actors once paid:

300,000/month for 40-person workforce
10,000 for his former security manager
$350,000 monthly for his 156-foot yacht (sold to J.K. Rowling for $27 million).
$30k/mo for wine (Depp said this was a modest estimate.) "Saying I spent $30,000 on wine is offensive," he remarked. It was more.)

$100,000 a month for addiction treatment

Depp said, "It's my money" about his 2017 spending.

"I'll buy 15,000 cotton balls a day if I want," he said.

In 2017, the actor sued his former business managers for $25 million over his spending (TMG countersued).

A year later, they settled. Details weren't released.

Amber Heard defamed Depp, who won $15 million.

Depp sued Heard for defamation after she wrote a 2018 op-ed about domestic violence.

The piece was frequently regarded as being about Depp.

Both Depp and Heard testified during the six-week trial earlier this year, and the jury awarded Depp $15 million from Heard and Heard $2 million from Depp.

Depp's $15 million prize was reduced to $10.35 million due to California punitive damages limits.

Depp sold $3m in art.

Depp has been playing music more than making movies since the verdict.

The actor may not earn as much as before his court struggle with Heard, but he has a passionate fans.

In July, Depp stated he will sell his works in England. All of his pieces sold within hours, causing the gallery's website to crash.
