Bryce Dallas Howard was paid'much less' than Chris Pratt for 'Jurassic World'
Bryce Dallas Howard, who played the role of Claire in "Jurassic World," has spoken out against the disparity in pay between her and Chris Pratt, who played the role of Owen in the film.
Howard, 41, claims that the salary disparity between her and Pratt, who made $10 million for "Jurassic World: Dominion," was much higher than previously reported.
In a recent interview with Insider, Howard remarked, "The stories were so interesting because I got paid so much less than the reports even said, so much less." When I first began negotiations on "Jurassic," it was 2014, and the industry was in a very different place, putting me at a significant disadvantage. Furthermore, you are obligated to commit to a minimum of three movies before you can lock in your current pricing and contract terms.
According to the article, Howard remembers discussing the gender pay disparity with Pratt and alleges the actor advocated for her in negotiations for video game rights and theme park rides.
What I can say is that Chris and I have talked about it, and he told me, "You guys don't even have to do anything" anytime there was an opportunity to change something that hadn't already been arranged, such as a game or a ride. All negotiations will be conducted by myself. The actress assured Bryce, "We're going to be paid the same, and you don't have to think about anything.
And for that, he has my undying affection. I do because I've made more money doing those things than I did on the movie itself.
The issue of men and women receiving equal pay in Hollywood has been debated for quite some time. Scarlett Johansson emphasized in an interview that women should always be their own ally. You have to be your own ally because we are undervalued, underserved, underappreciated, and underpaid.
Even though Johansson is the highest-paid actress in the business, she spoke out forcefully against the gender pay discrepancy. She was quoted as saying, "Equal pay is a significant element of that effort," by The Daily Wire. My mother and I would have those talks even when I was a young lady working in the industry, or a teenager. To the point of asking, "Why isn't she getting (paid the same)?"
The terms "bankability" and "box office draw" were always there as minor keys. Johansson said that all of these words and phrases were code for misogyny. It was never related to those things. That women are not as financially successful or popular with audiences is a long-standing problem in our society.
