The new single "Hold Me Closer" by Elton John and Britney Spears has been released.
On Friday night at twelve, the new collaboration from the two artists was released.

The long-awaited collaboration between Elton John and Britney Spears, "Hold Me Closer," was released on Friday at midnight.

Spears' vocals on the chorus of John's 1972 hit "Tiny Dancer" (which goes: "Hold me closer tiny dancer/ Count the headlines on the highway") are paired with Elton's original vocal over a dance beat, with some "woo-hoos" in the middle, in a manner similar to John's 2021 duet with Dua Lipa, "Cold Heart."

"She genuinely is an icon, one of the all-time great pop artists, and she sounds incredible on this record," John said of working with Britney Spears. I cherish her greatly, and I couldn't be happier with the life we've built together.

Singer Spears elaborated by saying "My life was forever changed when the legendary Sir Elton John asked me to sing on one of his classic songs. When the fans finally get to hear it, they're going to go crazy. I appreciate you having me, Elton. Thank you for giving me the chance to work with your brilliant intellect."

Spears hasn't released any new music since "Glory" in 2016.

Even though she released three songs that year, they were all demos for tunes that were intended for the first "Glory" album but were ultimately scrapped. The high-definition reissue had them incorporated.
