James went to help the couple out in 2016 by becoming the primary caretaker for their children. Unfortunately, Brad Pitt became increasingly irritated with this arrangement as time went on, particularly because James began to be addressed as "Dad" by the children. Some of their children may have thought James rather than Pitt was their father because Pitt was constantly away from home pursuing career advancement. According to an article published in Ok! Magazine in July 2016, James's youngest niece and nephew, Knox and Vivienne, have taken to calling him "Daddy" due to his frequent presence in their lives.
